The Vineyard

The 40 hectare vineyard currently has 7.75 hectares under vine on undulating, fertile soils, rich with limestone deposits ideal for the production of quality grapes. The soils vary and range from clay loam through alluvial to red and basalt soils on the higher ground, which provides an opportunity to produce wines of unique and interesting character.

Surrounding The Vineyard Cellar Door and Gazebo, formal gardens of roses, lavender walkways and shaded pergolas provide a delightful setting for wedding ceremonies, a tranquil respite.

Environment and Land Management

The Estate features many areas of remnant vegetation, including Ironbarks, Tallowwood, White Mahogany, Forest Red Gum, Spotted Gum and Grey Gum. Riparian species include Sandpaper Figs, Lilly Pillys, Brush Box and Cheese Trees. Remnants of a dry rainforest can be found on the higher ground and includes Silver Ash, White Cedar, Deep Yellowwood, Shatterwood and figs.

In 1999 State Forests of NSW selected the Estate for the Macleay Valley Farm Forestry plantation of 7000 hardwood trees, demonstrating the various uses and benefits of hardwood plantations - future timber resources, wildlife corridors, shelter belts and overall property enhancement.

Continual soil enrichment programs by Estate staff include foliar and ground applications of refined organic manure, seaweed and other trace element sprays. Fungal and insect control is primarily organic and used as part of an integrated pest management program.
